Bruce joined UniSports Orthopaedics as a partner in 1996. He is an orthopaedic surgeon with subspecialty training in sports surgery and is experienced with all soft tissue and joint injuries of the knee, shoulder, elbow and ankle.

Bruce is currently the head of orthopaedic trauma at Auckland City Hospital and previously held the prestigious position of Professor of Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine at the University of Washington in the United States.

Bruce was elected to the Council of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and was in charge of AO Trauma education development for the Asia-Pacific Region for six years. He has also served as the president of the Auckland branch of Sports Medicine New Zealand and on the Sports Medicine Committee of ISAKOS, the largest international orthopaedic sports medicine organisation.

The author of many orthopaedic and sports medicine chapters, Bruce’s ongoing research interests include the treatment of knee ligament, ankle and Achilles tendon injuries.
